The SilverArts is a celebration of the creative expression of seniors in North Carolina. It is a major component of the traditional athletic competition of North Carolina Senior Games. In a philosophy that strives to keep seniors healthy, active, and involved, SilverArts unites the athlete and artist in a program that recognizes the similarities of both endeavors: discipline, dedication, and pride in one's accomplishments. SilverArts provides a stage for the creative talents of the visual, heritage, literary, and performing artists. Encouragement and recognition of creative potential and accomplishment is the goal of the SilverArts program.
This is the first year in its 50-year history that the SilverArts will be held at the Cary Arts Center. There will be a juried art exhibition, which includes heritage, visual, and literary arts. And there will be two days of performances in the theater. On Thursday, September 22, we will host a 50th Anniversary celebration and “Cheer” which will consist of finalists from the NC regional competitions. On Friday, September 23, we will host “Follies” which will include a variety of comedy, drama, dance, instrumental and vocal performances by regional finalists.
The Thursday “Cheer” performances are free to the public, and the Friday “Follies” is a ticketed event. Tickets can be purchased at this link: https://www.etix.com/ticket/online/?
