What's New?
Cary is proposing an ordinance amendment to broaden the locations where Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) can be constructed.
The Public Hearing for the Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance Amendment was held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 (staff report) and the Planning and Zoning Board voted it was consistent with the Community Plan on October 28, 2024 (staff report). The ADU amendment will need to go before council for final decision. The meeting date has not been scheduled.
To engage the community, staff hosted a virtual meeting on January 17, 2024 for residents to provide input. The opportunity to provide feedback continues throughout the entire process. This initiative aligns with the 2021 Cary Housing Plan, aiming to enhance housing options and meet diverse resident needs.
Visit our Accessory Dwelling Unit page for links to the slide presentation from the community meeting and information on sending comments and questions.
