A complimentary service for small businesses and similar small organizations who do not have the resources to hire a North Carolina Licensed General Contractor.

Welcome Cary Businesses

The Town of Cary is interested in the success of your new business and wants to partner with you to help navigate through the process. Our development liaisons are here to help.

Inspections Assistance Service

The Inspection Assistance Program (IAP) is a program developed to help guide small business owners navigate construction and building inspections required as part of starting a new business. Cary understands that every day that you don't have your business open, costs you money in the form of lease payments and lost revenue.

What is the cost? There is no additional cost (beyond the typical cost of building permits).

What is the benefit? Considering your goals and challenges, we help create a plan to keep your project moving forward. Our IAP team can help you coordinate the appropriate inspectors (zoning compliance, stormwater, utility pretreatment, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, building, and fire) when you need them. We can also help guide business owners through questions about sign permits, health department regulations, facilitation of certificates of occupancy, and other concerns.

Who qualifies for this program? Small business owners, non-profit organizations, religious organizations, or similar who have not hired a licensed North Carolina General Contractor to manage their construction work. Restaurants, bakeries, salons, churches, and small retail establishments commonly qualify for this program.
