Selling Goods or Services to Cary
Competitive bidding practices are used as required by North Carolina General Statutes and Cary policies and procedures to ensure that the best value in goods and services is obtained through open vendor competition. In addition, Cary participates in programs that allow the opportunity to purchase under NC contracts and in cooperative agreements with other governmental units.
Qualified bidders are invited to compete for Cary's business by submitting informal quotations or formal responses to Request for Proposals when the Town needs to contract for materials, equipment or services.
Solicitations for construction and repair projects, architectural and engineering work, and all other purchases where Cary is seeking qualified firms and vendors are now being advertised through the North Carolina Electronic Vendor Portal (eVP). All interested parties must be registered on the NC Electronic Vendor Portal (eVP) to receive notices and updates on business opportunities.

Business Permits
Beer and Wine Permit
In March 2021, Cary proposed legislation to the North Carolina General Assembly to eliminate Cary’s requirement for local beer and wine licenses and associated fees. The burden on local businesses like yours to apply and pay for these annual licenses outweighed Cary’s value in receiving this revenue, due to administration costs.
We are happy to announce that House Bill 890 was signed into law by Governor Roy Cooper on September 10, 2021, eliminating the requirement for Cary businesses to maintain a separate Cary Beer and Wine License. This means we will no longer require a Cary license for your beer and wine sales. This law is specific to Cary so, if you do business in other cities, local beer and wine licensing laws remain in effect.
The requirement to maintain an active North Carolina State ABC Commission permit to sell alcoholic beverages in Cary remains in effect.
