As part of the Fire Department, the Fire Marshal Division enforces the N.C. Fire Prevention Code (IFC - with N.C. Amendments), Town of Cary Standard Specifications, as well as referenced Standards. We perform more than 6,000 fire inspections a year, including state-mandated fire inspections in town and extra-territorial jurisdiction businesses and industries. 

In addition, our assistant fire marshals perform building, site, and fire protection plans review for new development, building expansions, and renovations. All plans are submitted to the Inspections and Permits Department at Town Hall. Additionally, we issue operational and construction permits as required by the N.C. Fire Prevention Code (IFC - with N.C. Amendments).
