Typical Cary Arts Center volunteer roles include:
Cary Art Loop Reception volunteer: Greets and guides patrons to the featured exhibition in the Cary Arts Center Gallery. The volunteer will assist staff with the set up and take down of the art reception.
Greeter: The greeter is stationed in the foyer. He/she welcomes patrons and answers questions about the event, performance, other activities in the facility or about the venue in general. All greeters will be prepped with information by the house manager prior to volunteering.
Parking Attendant: When we anticipate a high amount of traffic, we will recruit volunteers to serve as parking attendants. The attendant’s job is to keep traffic moving as patrons arrive at the arts center, by providing directions on where to park, in addition to maintaining a drop-off loop for patrons who prefer to drop passengers off beside the center prior to parking. Reflective safety jackets are provided.
Ticket Scanner: The main function of the ticket scanner is to greet patrons as they enter the theatre and validate their tickets. Unless an event is sold out, the box office will be open on the night of a performance and tickets will be sold until a half hour into the performance. Tickets are scanned by means of a hand held scanner gun.
Usher: The primary task of an usher is to welcome and greet patrons. Some ushers may be asked to offer programs to the patrons while others will be assigned to assist patrons with seating for both reserved and general admission events.
