Inspiration, beauty, perseverance, innovation, and courage – the values embodied by recipients of the Mayor’s Star Medallion. The points of the star, each representing a value, symbolize the beacon of light recipients shine throughout our community.

As the spark or motivation, inspiration drives individuals and organizations to pursue their goals and dreams.
Beauty, often viewed as the aesthetic or artistic aspect of something, can be inspiring in its own right.
Perseverance provides the ability to continue working towards a goal despite difficulties or setbacks.
Driven by inspiration and perseverance, innovation refers to the introduction of new ideas or methods.
Courage provides the strength to overcome challenges through perseverance and innovation.
Stars are often seen as symbols of guidance, navigators for those who follow.

As stars are unique, so are the recipients. Those who wear the Medallion proudly bear the weight of being chosen out of many and serve as an example to all.

Eligibility and selection are determined by the Mayor and will be based on current and recent actions of potential recipients. The goal of this Medallion is to recognize individuals who embody the above-mentioned values through their contributions or achievements in Cary.

June 10, 2023 - River, a 21-year-old therapy horse at the CORRAL Riding Academy, received the first Mayor's Star Medallion in recognition of her exceptional qualities of inspiration, perseverance, and courage.
