Home MenuIn Moving Cary Forward
The first few months of 2021 revolved around protecting the people that make our work worthwhile — our citizens, employees, and neighboring communities.
It meant working to keep our citizens safe wherever they went, whether that be by posting signs encouraging them to wear masks or reopening Sk8 Cary with new safety protocols.
It meant continuing to provide the services our citizens expect, such as loose leaf collection and water distribution, and it meant providing our hardworking employees the information they need to get vaccinated.
But it also meant stepping outside of Cary to ensure all Wake County residents receive the resources needed to be safe. This work included sending at least five firefighters every week to help staff the COVID-19 vaccination site at PNC Arena and participating in a vaccination clinic in Raleigh to serve the county’s senior Hispanic population.
While COVID-19 changed our lives, it didn’t stop us from looking ahead. We reached several major milestones this quarter in our journey toward Cary’s future, including relocating the Nancy Jones House and hiring Cary’s first urban forestry manager.
We look forward to providing additional updates related to financials and development at our next Quarterly Meeting on May 13. While safety has always been our top priority, living through a historic event like the pandemic reminds us why we do this work every day.
