In Q3, Cary issued 221 single-family permits. The top three subdivisions permitted were Brickyard (51), Savaan (35), and Reserve at Wackena (18). Overall, permits for new single-family homes increased 11% in comparison to the same period last year.

Cary also issued 192 single-family certificates of occupancy (COs), an average of 3.2 certificates per workday. This is a 9% decrease in comparison to the COs issued during the same period last year and a 14% decrease from the average issued in FY 2020. The subdivisions issued the most COs were Savaan (31), Brickyard (28), and Channing Park (25).  

In Q3, Cary issued 425 residential alteration and addition permits. This is a 6% increase from the same period last year. However, it is a 16.5% decrease from last quarter, potentially due to rising construction costs and an increase in COVID-19 cases this winter.
