Project Background

This project provides funds for major facility maintenance and upgrades to the Town’s older fire stations. Appropriations of FY 2021 through FY 2023 support a station assessment of the Fire Administration Building and Stations 2, 4, 8, and 9. These assessments identify major maintenance needs and provide a 20 year capital plan for each station. Renovations will extend the usable lifespans of each of the buildings far beyond their current state. Fire staff will continue to operate from temporary structures during major phases of the renovations.

Project Cost and Schedule

$2,400,000 was appropriated in FY23

  • Winter 2024: Station 4 project under construction.

$250,000 was appropriated in FY22

  • Fall 2021: Complete assessment of Fire Station 4 was completed.

Fire Station 4 Renovations

Summary: Fire Station 4 was built in 1987 and has undergone only minor renovations in its 36-year lifespan. FS4 is in a prime location for the area that it services, so renovating the existing structure was determined to be the best course of action for this station. Temporary structures have been erected on site adjacent to the station so that there will be no disruption of services during the renovation process. More information can be found on the Fire Department Logistics web page here.

Construction Start: Winter 2024

Estimated Completion: Spring 2025
