Evans & Watkins Road Reclaimed Connections
Overview: Construct a connection of approximately 170 LF of 12-inch diameter and 2,540 LF of 16-inch diameter on Evans Road between Weston Parkway and Aviation Parkway. This pipeline will be between the existing 12-inch diameter reclaimed mains. This project, along with Project N-8 will extend the reclaimed water service to the Wake Technical Community College RTP campus, which intends to use reclaimed water for cooling towers. The campus plan includes 975,000 square feet of buildings by buildout, with 415,000 square feet over the next 10 years.
N-8 construct a reclaimed water main connection, approximately 4,240 linear feet of 6-inch diameter along Watkins Road connecting McCrimmon Parkway with Chapel Hill Road. This new main will be between existing 16-inch, 12-inch and 6-inch diameter mains.
Status Update, Winter 2025: Scoping of the project is underway with design anticipated to start in early 2025.
Jack Branch Interceptor Project (SW1269)
Overview: This project provides for the extension of the existing interceptor sewer system located near Jack Branch and approximately 1,000 linear feet west of NC-540 in accordance with Cary’s Wastewater Collection System Master Plan. The extension will be located adjacent to the Jack Branch and extend to the east approximately 14,000 linear feet to just past the east side of NC-540. The total length and actual location of the extension will be based on available funding and will be determined after the design phase is complete.

Paramount Pump Station Improvements
Overview: The existing Paramount Pump Station is located at 5180 Paramount Parkway in Morrisville with a pumping capacity of 0.58 million gallons per day. Currently, there are multiple major developments in the sewer basin, including Wake Tech RTP Campus, Towne Place Suites Marriott Hotel, and Perimeter Park, which contribute to a projected 2027 flow close to the pump station’s capacity. A site study concluded that construction of a new 1 MGD pump station replacing the existing station would provide increased wet well volume for future growth, locate the station outside the 100-year floodplain, and minimize disruption to the operation of the existing pump station. Construction of a new Paramount Pump Station with higher capacity next to the existing site will maintain reliable wastewater service to the region, support local economy and growth, and avoid interruption to current operations.

Walnut Creek Pump Station Expansion
Overview: The Walnut Creek Pump Station provides wastewater service to downtown Cary, Fenton, South Hills, and the proposed Epic Games headquarters. The existing pump station is in need of rehabilitation and expansion to meet the continued growth and redevelopment in the area. A preliminary engineering report (PER) was developed to plan rehabilitation and construction efforts over the next several years. Based on the results of the PER, Cary has decided to pursue a single-phase design to increase pump station capacity and implement site improvements. Site evaluation and design is currently underway, which will be followed by permitting and construction with the project expected to take several years to be fully complete.
Status Update, Spring 2024: The project is currently under design, with construction anticipated to begin in 2026.

Winding Pine Wastewater Pump Station
Overview: This project includes building a new submersible wastewater pump station in the Town of Cary's northwest utility service area. The new pump station will provide service to areas currently being served by the Kit Creek Pump Station, including the Wake County portion of Research Triangle Park. With a design capacity of 10.6 million gallons per day, it will also serve future development in surrounding properties.
As part of this project, the Kit Creek Pump Station will be decommissioned after Winding Pine Pump Station is completed and operational.
Schedule: Construction has commenced, and the project is anticipated to be complete in 2024.
