Artist Dustin Letherman of Magnolia Metal worked with Elementary School classes to develop ideas for the visual inspiration and consider the natural environment for inspiration of pattern concepts.  This approach gave a thoughtful unified approach to this linear visual but functional barrier between street traffic and school grounds. 

An effective creative placemaking process capitalizes on a local community's assets, inspiration, and potential, and it results in the creation of quality public spaces that contribute to people's health, happiness, and wellbeing.

This past spring, staff and artist met with all 5^th grade classes at Cary Elementary School to seek inspiration for aesthetic enhancement for fencing.  Teachers follow up in their art classes with their students creating drawings to provide inspirational ideas for fencing panels. 

 72 inspirational drawings by Cary Elementary 5^th Graders were collected.  Themes included abstract patterns, trains, planes, automobiles, dinosaurs, animals, bees, birds, butterflies, plants, trees and of course the Cary Cougars!
