Artist: Lisa Gaither
Material: paint
Location: White Oak Creek Greenway segment between Macarthur Drive and Davis Drive
Commissioned: Town of Cary

In 2020 the Town of Cary began working with mural artist Lisa Gaither to create designs for the headwalls at the new greenway tunnel by Davis Drive Park. Concepts are below, and it is anticipated that work may begin on the murals in early spring 2021.

The Artist drew her inspiration for the East Walls from the flora and fauna found along Cary greenways and trails. With emphasis on some of the native flowers found along the White Oak Creek Greenway segment. The Eastside is more “realistic painting style” with an out of focus background. The West Walls are a more “graphic illustration” of similar flora and fauna along with silhouette of biker and runners and the meandering reproduction of the White Oak Creek or greenway pattern weaving in the background. The West side is purposely bolder and more graphic in contrast to the more representational painting style of the East. Something for everyone!
