McConnell’s work includes several uniquely designed entry markers, each one containing detailed maps of neighborhoods which make up the square panels of the different sides. The artist’s concept is based on the “community connection” concept -- distinctive of Cary’s history at a particular point in time and the mapping of neighborhoods in Cary.

Find Your Neighborhood

The following are instructions for locating your neighborhood on Matt McConnell's sculpture, Sense of Place.

Search for your address here. You'll be taken to a map with colorful boxes and codes.
Notice which colored box your address falls in and its corresponding code. Example: The Cary Arts Center (101 Dry Ave) falls within a blue box with code I-A5. 
This code determines which panel of the sculpture your neighborhood is on. 
Refer to the diagram below or at the downtown park to locate the right panel.
