Description:

These pieces depict the past, present, and future topography of the site and the surrounding area. The artist’s initial proposals included these benches reference the present, the here and now, and would be a series of outdoor benches. They incorporate the present topography of the library and would be located in the library courtyard. The second work would depict the topography of the area, before development. It would serve as a “welcome map” as you enter the courtyard of the library. The last piece would project a futuristic look at the topography and would be located inside the library. It would be suspended in the “marketplace,” a gathering place for the community as you enter the facility.
