Wheelchair Tennis Clinics
Cary Tennis Park has partnered with local Community Tennis Associations to offer weekly Wheelchair Clinics.
Wheelchair tennis follows the same rules as able bodied tennis, except a wheelchair athlete can let the ball bounce twice. Wheelchair tennis is an inclusive sport in which able bodied players and wheelchair players can play doubles together. It is also a Paralympic sport. Wheelchair tennis is a great sport for amputees and people with spinal cord injuries.
Visit Western Wake Tennis Association for updated clinic dates and registration information.
Abilities Tennis
Cary Tennis Park is proud to partner with Abilities Tennis of North Carolina and Western Wake Tennis Association to provide adapted tennis programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This includes training coaches and volunteers, providing skills based, short court and long court tennis opportunities, and unified doubles which partners individuals without a disability with special needs athletes.
Clinics are held on Saturdays (times vary depending on season) at Cary Tennis Park with two to three clinics per month. Athletes should visit RecTrac to create a new account and register!
A one time training is required for all volunteers. Click here to sign up to be notified of future trainings. Contact Laura@westernwaketennis.com for more volunteering information.
