Home Menu2012 Greenway Construction Project
Project Description
This project provides for improvements to the Annie Jones Greenway. The Annie Jones Greenway includes four trail segments within the Scottish Hills Subdivision between SW Cary Parkway and Old Apex Road. The combined length of these trail segments is 1.11 miles. The purpose of the renovation project is to pave and upgrade the trail to current Town of Cary greenway standards. Phase 1 of this project, completed in 2011, paved 0.4 mile from Cary Parkway to Tarbert Drive.
The current project – Phase 2 - consists of paving and improvements to the 0.3 mi. trail segment from Tarbert Drive, opposite Annie Jones Park, to the intersection with the existing paved trail between Cary Pkwy and Gatehouse Dr. The project will realign the trail to meet current Town of Cary Standards, and reduce environmental impacts. The new alignment reduces the number of stream crossings, and moves the trail further from the stream where room allows. The work will improve trail drainage, remove trees and tree roots that are buckling the trail surface, repair or relocate bridge and boardwalk structures and pave the trail with asphalt.
