Speight Branch Greenway follows the creek of the same name, starting at Southeast Cary Parkway and heading north to a pedestrian underpass at Tryon Road. After the tunnel, the user can go in either direction, walking along the Macedonia Lake Loop Trail or heading east to continue along Speight Branch Greenway for 0.7 mile its current end at Walnut Street. The newly-constructed trail encircling Macedonia Lake has a 210-foot section of boardwalk. The lake area is the site of a 24-acre neighborhood park to be developed in the future. Future plans extend Speight Branch to the south of Cary Parkway and to connect Piney Plains Greenway north of Macedonia Lake.

DIRECTIONS

The southern end of the greenway begins at Southeast Cary Parkway, just east of the intersection with Lochmere Drive. It travels for 0.6 miles to a pedestrian underpass beneath Tryon Road.

The previously-existing pedestrian tunnel has now been connected with greenway construction, and users can access the newly-opened Macedonia Lake Loop or continue around to Tryon Manor Drive where there is an eastern fork of the trail that goes 0.3 miles to Walnut Street.

ENTRANCES

There is a neighborhood connecting path from Gwinnett Place and an entrance at Tryon Road just south of the pedestrian underpass. Access can be made from Tryon Manor Drive near Macedonia Lake.
