History and Naming
The former White Oak Park was renamed for former Councilmember Ed Yerha, who
served on Council from 2012 to 2022.
Yerha served Cary for more than two decades, including a decade on Cary’s Town
Council, including as Mayor Pro Tem, and another 15 years as a regular volunteer on various boards and committees.
An avid proponent of local history and historic preservation, Ed worked with the Historic
Preservation Commission and is a past president of the Friends of the Page-Walker. Ed
proposed and helped form Cary’s first Senior Advisory Board.
As part of the Cary150 Celebration in 2021, Councilmember Yerha presented his series of History Moments, short videos that cover topics chronicling Cary's history.
