Home of the Kids Together Playground, Marla Dorrel Park isn’t your typical suburban park. Unique elements include a dragon climbing structure named Katal, progressive design elements and landscaping, and a play area where kids of all physical and mental ability can enjoy fully-integrated play in a multi-sensory environment that challenges both muscles and minds. The park connects to a pedestrian overpass linking it to MacDonald Woods Park. The trail crosses a stream that runs adjacent to the park and a small wetland can be found close by.

History and Naming
Marla Dorrel is a community advocate and volunteer, as well as a former Councilmember. Home to the Kids Together Playground, her namesake park boasts a dragon climbing feature, progressive design elements and landscaping, and a play area where kids of all physical and mental abilities can enjoy fully integrated play in a multisensory environment that strengthens both the muscles and the minds. This has been Marla’s primary emphasis for many years, although she’s also been involved in many Cary activities, including service on Town Council from 1999 to 2007 as well as the Historic Preservation Commission. The care of the park is overseen by Kids Together Inc, a non-profit currently led by Dorrel.
