The Cary Fire Department conducts a variety of public education presentations and attends many community events. All of our public education outreach is delivered free of charge.

To schedule a presentation, tour a fire station, or request that fire department staff attend your event, please fill out our interest form.

Career Fairs
A member of the Cary Fire Department Recruitment Team will staff an informational booth at your event and discuss educational, physical, and training requirements of the job and explain the application process to become a Cary firefighter.

Community Emergency Preparedness (also see CERT)
The Community Risk Coordinator will teach your group how to plan and prepare for emergencies and offer ways you can stay informed. For a more comprehensive understanding of emergency preparedness, the fire department periodically offers the 20+ hour CERT program.

Community Health/Wellness Event
The fire department attends events promoting community health and wellness. We can send a whole fire company or a firefighter to talk about fire safety in the home and workplace, distribute fire safety materials, and show the fire truck.

Fire Station Tours
All Cary fire stations are open to the public every day. If we’re not on a call, we’ll happily show you and your family around the station and the fire trucks. If you’ll be visiting with a group, please please fill out our interest form to request a time and station at least two weeks in advance to ensure availability.

Fire Safety Talks for Adults
A fire department staff member will speak to your church, community group, HOA, or place of business to deliver specially prepared fire safety messages and provide fire safety materials. Please fill out our interest form to schedule.

Fire Safety for Preschoolers
We offer a variety of programs for children. We will visit your daycare or preschool and show the children our fire gear and let them tour the fire truck, or we can read a book to your class! Please fill out our interest form to schedule.

Fire Safety at your School (K-5)
We will send a truck or a firefighter to your school to teach fire safety messages and show the fire truck and our fire gear. We offer a fire safety puppet show for early elementary school audiences. For older grades (3-5), we can specially tailor a fire safety message to align with your curriculum needs. Please fill out our interest form to schedule.

Home Safety Inspections and Foster Home Inspections
We will visit your home and conduct a room to room survey to look for potential fire hazards and offer suggestions to keep you and your family safe. Please fill out our interest form to schedule. In addition, our Office of the Fire Marshal conducts foster home fire inspections.

Senior Fire and Fall Safety
The fire department delivers the Remembering When program, a nationally recognized program that teaches eight fire safety and eight fall prevention messages for seniors. Please fill out our interest form to schedule.

Smoke Alarms
The fire department offers assistance with smoke alarms. If you need help testing an alarm, changing the battery, or installing or replacing an alarm, call Fire Administration (919-469-4056) during normal business hours or the 911 Center's non-emergency number (919-469-4012) after hours to schedule to have fire department representative assist. We are unable to replace hardwired alarms if the wiring harnesses are not compatible.

Workplace Safety
We offer assistance with emergency planning, conducting fire drills, and fire extinguisher training. Please fill out our interest form to schedule. (And please provide the extinguishers for any hands-on training.)
