As articulated in our Statement of Values, the Town of Cary is committed to treating everyone with dignity, respect, and fairness, and our actions comply with local, state and federal laws. In this regard, we fully support and comply with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in our services, programs, or activities.

Employment: Employees are our most important resource. The Town of Cary does not discriminate on the basis of disability in our hiring or employment practices, and we fully support and comply with all ADA regulations of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Communication: The Town of Cary is committed to providing all citizens with the opportunity to participate fully in the public process as well as in our programs, services, and activities. As we strive to be open, ensure access, and encourage involvement, the Town will, upon request, provide appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities.

Modifications to Policies and Procedures: The Town of Cary will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of our programs, services, and activities. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a Town program, service, or activity should contact our ADA Coordinator (contact information below) or the Town of Cary department responsible for the program, service or activity as soon as possible but no later than two business days before the scheduled event. Please note that more time might be needed to ensure that auxiliary aids or services are available or to modify policies or procedures. We will not place a surcharge on a particular individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids/services or reasonable modifications of policy.

Keep in mind that while we work very hard to meet everyone’s needs the ADA does not require the Town of Cary to take actions that would fundamentally alter the nature of our programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.

Please direct complaints about the accessibility of a Town program, service, or activity to our ADA Coordinator.
