Water Quality

The Town of Cary is committed to delivering high quality and safe drinking water to citizens throughout our entire utility service area.  As part of our commitment to provide exceptional water service, we’ve invested in advanced water treatment systems and processes that provide a multiple barrier approach for water treatment optimization. The Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility completed a major expansion project in 2018 allowing it to treat up to 56 million gallons of water a day. This should provide the needed capacity to serve the needs of our community for the next decade. The multiple barrier treatment process in operation at CAWTF provides water treatment using the following unit processes and procedures.  In our effort to deliver high quality and safe drinking water, we continue to evaluate best management practices to further enhance our treatment process and stay current with the evolving science of water quality management.
