All Water, Sewer, and Reclaimed Water extensions require Site Plan approval and permitting in accordance with Sec 36-37 of the Code of Ordinances.

The Town of Cary has Delegated Authority to issue water, reclaimed water,  gravity sewer, and (public) pump station and force main permits within its utility service area.

The utility service area includes the Town of Cary, Town of Morrisville, and portions of Wake County. Specific permitting requirements for water, sewer, and reclaimed water system extensions will be included in initial Town of Cary staff review comments during the site plan review process. The Town of Cary Site Plan Review Process is described on the TOC Planning Department web page. Wake County projects that include Town of Cary utility extensions are reviewed via the Town of Cary Plan Review Process. Projects within Morrisville should contact the Town of Morrisville for their plan review procedures.
