A Zoning Verification Letter  is a written document from the Planning and Development Services Department confirming the zoning district(s) for any given parcel of land as well any applicable zoning conditions on the parcel. A separate fee must be paid for each parcel. 

A Zoning Verification Letter does not provide a determination to the compliance or noncompliance of any existing land uses on the property.

To request a Zoning Verification Letter, apply through Cary’s Electronic Plan Review Portal.  If you are a first-time user, you will need to register and create an account.  You will receive an email to confirm your account. 

After your account has been set up, log in and click Submit a Project for Review.  Select the following responses to get started.  Select the correct county.  Use the address, the name of the building, or another identifier for the project name.   

 You will receive an auto-generated email once you have submitted the application. 

Staff will set up your request and send an email with payment instructions within 1-2 business days.  Your request will be forwarded to the review staff once the payment has been confirmed.
