Project Background

The Action Sports Park was built in 2001 and continues to serve all ages and skill levels involving skateboards, inline and quad skates, non-folding scooters, and bicycles without training wheels. A masterplan study was completed in 2015 to identify improvements that will enhance facility programming and accommodate special events.

Project Scope

The Action Sports Improvements project is currently in the early stages of schematic design exploring design options to either increase course size, add a roof structure, or provide some minor clubhouse renovations. Some of the existing ramps will be replaced with new, mobile ramps that will allow greater flexibility in the course layout and will be recognized as one of the only facilities in the country with this ability.

Project Cost & Schedule

The budget for design and construction is $2 million. Funding was approved as part of the 2019 Shaping Cary's Tomorrow Bond Referendum. Per the referendum, construction funding for this project is programmed for the 2025-29 work period.
