Guidelines
No pets are allowed within the Festival site. Service dogs are permitted.
Town of Cary Ordinance 6-72 (a-d): "It shall be unlawful for any person owning or having possession, charge, custody, or control of any animal as defined in section 6-3, to take that animal, whether or not under restraint, into, or allow the animal to enter, the boundaries of Lazy Daze...The boundaries and the interior of Lazy Daze,...shall consist of any property that is part of the festival or other special event and shall include any public street, sidewalk, or other publicly owned area that is within or constitutes the boundary of the event...This section shall not apply to guide dogs or hearing-aid dogs in the company of blind or deaf persons."
Town of Cary Ordinance 24-18 (j): "Pursuant to section 6-72, animals are prohibited at Lazy Daze and certain other special events. The town council, by its action, may also make the provisions of section 24-5 apply to other town-sponsored events."
Smoking is not permitted on the Festival grounds.
Town of Cary Ordinance 14-22: "Smoking is prohibited in all Town facilities."
Skateboards, roller blades and bikes and other wheeled vehicles, except for wheelchairs and strollers, and the throwing of balls or frisbees, which may endanger or inconvenience the public attending the Festival, are prohibited on-site.
Town of Cary Ordinance 24-18 (c): "It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a bicycle, tricycle, unicycle, skateboard, or any other wheeled vehicle, roller skates or roller blades (all hereafter referred to as "wheeled vehicle") on or within the boundaries of Lazy Daze or any other town-sponsored event to which these provisions have been made to apply. For purposes of this section, the term "operate" shall mean the use, putting into action, or causing to function of a wheeled vehicle by a person mounted thereon. This section shall not apply to wheelchairs, baby strollers, or baby carriages."
Town of Cary Ordinance 24-18 (d): It shall be unlawful for any person to toss or throw a ball, Frisbee, model airplane, or similar object on or within the boundaries of Lazy Daze or any other town-sponsored event to which these provisions have been made to apply.
No firearms or weapons are allowed on the Festival site.
Concealed carry is prohibited in Town Hall, Page Walker Arts & History Center, and the Herb Young Community Center and “appurtenant premises” – including parking lots. Permit holders can lock their handguns in “enclosed compartments” in cars and other vehicles. Concealed carry is permitted on public streets.
Open carry is prohibited in the boundaries of Lazy Daze during Lazy Daze; including public streets.
Town of Cary Ordinance 22-51 (a-f): No person shall carry a concealed handgun in town-owned buildings, on the appurtenant premises of those buildings, or in town recreational facilities as defined by G.S. 14-415.23, which are all town athletic fields and athletic facilities...The director of public works or designee is hereby authorized and instructed to post conspicuous signage at appropriate locations on or within each recreational facility and each building and the ground and parking areas of such buildings owned, leased as lessee, operated, occupied, managed, or controlled by the town, as well as any other appurtenant premises to such buildings, indicating that carrying a concealed handgun on the properties and locations described in this section is prohibited...display of handguns is prohibited on any public streets, including adjacent sidewalks, that have been closed by the chief of police or designee pursuant to Section 34-74...display of handguns is prohibited within the area and boundaries of the Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival during the times listed in Section 24-18, and within the area and boundaries of any other town-sponsored even to which the provisions of Section 24-18 are made to apply by the town council."
Unauthorized drones and fireworks are prohibited on the Festival grounds.
Town of Cary Ordinance 24-18 (e): "It shall be unlawful for any person to purchase, sell, deal in, transport, possess, receive, use, or cause to be used or discharged, any fireworks on or within the boundaries of Lazy Daze or any other town-sponsored event to which these provisions have been made to apply. For the purpose of this section, "fireworks" shall mean those non-exploding glow worms, smoke bombs, noisemakers, and sparklers that are described in G.S. 14-414(1)-(6).
Non-sanctioned activities, including unauthorized selling or busking are prohibited on the Festival site.
The Festival reserves the right to decline admittance to anyone who violates the reasonable policies established for public safety.
Town of Cary Ordinance 24-18 (f): It shall be unlawful for any person to exhibit, display, offer, for sale or to sell any merchandise or other item, any service, food or beverage from any outside location (hereafter referred to as "outside sales") on public property, within the boundaries of Lazy Daze unless such person has been issued a permit for such outside sales by the town parks and recreation department. Any person conducting outside sales shall display the permit issued by the parks and recreation department in a conspicuous place at the location of the outside sales.
It is illegal to cross railroad tracks except at a designated pedestrian crossing.
North Carolina General Statute 20-142.1: "No person shall drive any vehicle through, around, or under any crossing gate or barrier at a railroad crossing while the gate or barrier is closed or is being opened or closed, nor shall any pedestrian pass through, around, over, or under any crossing gate or barrier at a railroad crossing while the gate or barrier is closed or is being opened or closed."
Accessibility
A limited amount of handicap-accessible parking is available in the Fire Department Administration Parking Lot (100 N. Academy Street, Cary, NC 27513) on a first-come, first-served basis for those displaying active handicap placards. Guests must display a valid handicap placard or license plate, and the person the placard or plate is registered to must be present. This handicapped parking area is located immediately outside the south festival entrance.
Guests can be dropped off and picked up at the Fire Department Administration Parking Lot (100 N. Academy Street, Cary) in the designated areas. This area is located immediately outside the south festival entrance.
Persons with disabilities and their service dogs or miniature horses that are trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of the individual with the disability are welcome at the festival and on festival shuttles. Service animals must always remain leashed. Service animals that are threatening the health or safety of any person or animal will be removed from the festival.
Service animal handlers are required to clean up after their service animals and dispose of pet waste in the appropriate receptacles.

Handicap-accessible shuttles are available from both shuttle locations:
Chiesi USA at Regency - 175 Regency Woods #600, Cary, NC
Green Hope High School - 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Rd, Cary, NC
Shuttles are available 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Shuttles drop guests off just outside the north festival entrance on Chapel Hill Road.
Movement within the Festival:
A limited number of non-motorized wheelchairs are available for loan at no cost for guests of the festival. The wheelchair loan location is at the Info Tent on N. Academy Street. Wheelchair push services and personal care attendants are not available.
All areas of the festival are accessible by paved walkways or ramps. Due to the terrain of Downtown Cary, some areas of the festival are inclined at varying degrees. Guests requiring assistance finding the nearest handicap-accessible entrance to an area of the festival should ask a festival volunteer.
Guests bringing motorized wheelchairs can find limited power outlets inside the Herb Young Community Center if emergency charging is needed. Guests must remain with their motorized wheelchair at all times.
Restrooms:
All restrooms at Cary Town Hall, Herb Young Community Center, and Page-Walker Arts & History Center are equipped with handicap-accessible stalls.
American Sign Language Interpreters:
Deaf or hard-of-hearing guests may request an American Sign Language interpreter for specific performances no later than Friday, July 19, 2024. Requests made after Friday, July 19, 2024, may not be honored due to scheduling. Guests can reserve an American Sign Language interpreter by emailing Jenna.Kostka@carync.gov.
Large Print:
Large print sections of the festival booklet (entertainment schedule, list of festival activities, listing of food and beverage vendors, and listing of artists) are available for pick-up at both information tents. The festival does not currently have a large print version of the festival map.
Quiet Hours:
On Sunday, August 25th from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. stage performances, musical roving entertainment, and cultural booth performances will be paused to allow our guest with auditory sensitivities more opportunity to enjoy the festival. Please note that the train may still run through Downtown periodically during this time. The train runs along the south side of the festival.

Noise-Reducing Earmuffs:
The festival has a limited number of noise-reducing earmuffs available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis at both information tents.
