Volunteers are critical to the success of Spring Daze. We have a variety of volunteer needs, including helping artists load in and out, welcoming participants and the public, providing information, assisting with transportation, booth management, and many more. Whether you want to volunteer all day or for a few hours, there are options to fit every schedule.

More than 100 volunteers are needed to make Spring Daze a success.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer on their own. Volunteers younger than 16 can volunteer with a parent or guardian in certain positions. Please refer to the signup for more details.

Job Descriptions

Booth Sitter *All Ages*: Give artists a break during the day by staying in their booth and informing festival guests the artist has stepped away for a moment. Booth sitters are not allowed to sell merchandise for artists. Booth sitters are required to have a cell phone with text messaging capabilities, be comfortable walking for extended periods of time, and be comfortable speaking to festival guests. Volunteers age 15 and younger may sign up with a parent/guardian that is at least 18 years of age for the same shift and must remain with that parent/guardian during the entirety of their shift.

Booth Sitter Dispatch *18+*: Dispatch Booth Sitters to artist booths as requests are received and correspond with artists alerting them of wait times. Must be comfortable using an iPad and have proficient typing skills. Must be 18+ to sign up for this position.

Green Team *18+*: Be a part of Spring Daze's sustainability efforts by joining the Green Team! Green Team volunteers can speak with festival guests on Earth Day Lane or help divert festival waste from the landfill by assisting festival guests in recycling and composting when possible. Green Team members should be comfortable speaking to festival guests, standing, and using trash grabbers. Must be 18+ to sign up for this position. 

Information Booth Assistant: Help festival staff at the information booths by assisting with children's security armbands, running errands, helping visitors with questions, and giving directions. This position will require occasional standing with the possibility of moderate lifting. Must be comfortable speaking in public. Must be 16+ to sign up for this position.

Load-In Assistant *All Ages*: Assist vendors in unloading and setting up booth spaces. This position will require standing for extended periods of time, heavy lifting, and walking long distances. Volunteers age 15 and younger may sign up with a parent/guardian that is at least 18 years of age for the same shift and must remain with that parent/guardian during the entirety of their shift.

Load-Out Assistant *All Ages*: Assist vendors in loading cars and breaking down booth spaces. This position will require standing for extended periods of time, heavy lifting, and walking long distances. Volunteers age 15 and younger may sign up with a parent/guardian that is at least 18 years of age for the same shift and must remain with that parent/guardian during the entirety of their shift.

Lunch Detail Assistant *All Ages*: Help sort and distribute lunches for artists. This position will require standing for extended periods of time, walking long distances, and possibly heavy lifting. Volunteers age 15 and younger may sign up with a parent/guardian that is at least 18 years of age for the same shift and must remain with that parent/guardian during the entirety of their shift.

Merchandise Booth Assistant: Merchandise Booth Assistants are responsible for answering guest questions or seeking the answers to guest’s questions, assisting staff in finding t-shirt sizes, organizing stock, and completing transactions. They must be comfortable with a combination of sitting or standing and direct exposure to the weather. Merchandise Booth Assistants must be 16 years of age or older.

Vendor Check-In Assistant: Work with Vendor Check-In Leads to check in vendors at the festival entrance where the welcome packet is passed out. This position will require standing for extended periods of time. Must be 16+ to sign up for this position.

Vendor Hospitality Detail *All Ages*: Distribute snacks and water to festival vendors. This position will require standing for extended periods of time and excessive walking. Volunteers age 15 and younger may sign up with a parent/guardian that is at least 18 years of age for the same shift and must remain with that parent/guardian during the entirety of their shift.

Volunteer Check-In Assistant *Age 18+*: Responsible for checking in and out festival volunteers. This includes having volunteers sign waivers, handing out t-shirts, and explaining assignments. Must be comfortable speaking to volunteers and answering questions. This position will require occasional standing with the possibility of moderate lifting and walking. Must be 18+ to sign up for this position.

  • Earn community service hours for schools, clubs, or other organizations.
  • Assist Cary in providing $40,000 in grants to local area nonprofits by offsetting the costs of staff.
