Overview
The Tryon Road project area consisted of the construction of a 10-ft. wide asphalt multi-use trail approximately 758 linear feet in length that connected the existing greenway trail on the east side of the lake to the existing pedestrian tunnel under Tryon Road. This segment also connected to the existing Speight Branch Greenway on the south side of Tryon Road, completing a critical missing gap within the greenway system.
The project also included the construction of a 10-ft. wide asphalt multi-use trail approximately 1,812 linear feet in length located on the west and north sides of the Macedonia Lake. It also included construction of a 210-ft wooden boardwalk structure 10’ wide. This section of the project completed the greenway trail around the lake and connected to the Tryon Village Greenway.

Schedule
The project is complete.
Background
Since 1998, the Town has been developing a greenway system that will extend throughout the Town to link to schools, parks and neighborhoods. Over this time period the Town has constructed over 50 miles of greenway trails. This ambitious greenway construction program has been very successful and well received by Cary citizens. Currently PRCR Staff is focusing on completing several greenway gap projects that will help to connect individual greenway segments into a unified recreation and transportation system. The Tryon Road Greenway will complete a significant gap within the Cary greenway system and provide a wonderful loop trail around the lake.
Budget
The construction costs for this project were $1,031,476.
