Big or small, a leak is a waste of our precious resource and can be costly. Take the time to check for leaks and fix those you find.

Check Your Toilets

1 in 4 toilets leaks. So find those sneaky leaks with the assistance of food coloring and our testing instructions here Toilet Training Tutorial.

Need to replace a toilet?
Install WaterSense certified high efficiency toilet that uses a maximum of 1.28 gallons per flush. If your home was built before 1994 and has not been updated, chances are your toilet uses 3.5 gallons or more per flush.

Inspect and Redirect Irrigation

If you have an automated irrigation system, be sure to inspect your system each spring and occasionally watch it run to catch and fix leaks or misdirected spray heads.

Isolate or Report a Leak

When needed, turn off the water using the master shut off valve or, if needed, call 311 or (919) 469-4000 to have the water shut off at the meter.

Set a Leak Alert

Be notified by email or text when your water use goes above your expectation. Set a "Daily Alerts by Gallon.” It’s all possible through your Aquastar account; sign in through DigiPay.
